Can my 23" Apple Cinema HD Display connect to latest Mac Pro?

Is it possible to use my 23" Apple Cinema HD Display with the newest Mac Pro?

Will I need some adaptor to connect the ACD to the Thunderbolt port?

I have had zero problems with this display which I have been using since it was new in 2008.

What kind of Mac are you currently using? Because the 23" Apple Cinema HD Display uses an ADC connection. No recent Mac uses that kind of connection.

You may be misidentifying your display, as the 23" Apple Cinema HD Display was introduced in 2002 and discontinued in 2004. So, it would be unlikely that you bought it new in 2008.

23" Cinema Displays (note: no HD in the name) use DVI connections. They could be used with a Mini Displayport to DVI adapter, plugged into one of the new Mac Pro's Thunderbolt ports that double as Mini Displayports.

If you do have that kind of display, with the "HD" in the name, you would need an adapter that has been out of production for years. E-Bay would be a likely source.

What should work is a mini displayport (plugs into Thunderbolt port) to DVI adopter and then a DVI to ADC adopter like

Might be better just to pitch the monitor and get a new/used monitor with a modern connection

The older lucite-and white 23" flat panel display with ADC connector has no power supply. When used with the Apple ADC-to-DVI adapter or Dr Bott DVIator (with its own AC Power cord) its cord looks like a snake that just had lunch. It becomes a self-powered single-Link DVI display, suitable for attachment to any Mac, with the appropriate adapter. I use one on a Mac Pro 2009.

Normally, you cannot "stack" adapters. But the Apple ADC-to-DVI adapter or Dr. Bott DVIator performs a complete conversion, so ONE adapter can be used in addition.
