can someone hack my macbook by telling me to enter a specific password to a website?

Was the number you called (800) 692-7753? Apple technicians do have the ability (after your authorization) to remote into your computer after installing some software.

It is quite possible that it was not legitimate. What website did you get "Apple's" number from? What was the number you called?

That would not be Apple's phone number. That looks like a scam website and more than likely they have installed malware on your computer.

What I would suggest doing is dragging that program to your trash bin and empty it as soon as possible. Next thing I would do is seek out an Apple specialist to assist you to fully remove any malware. I would also make sure you have a backup of your computer.

Yes they would be able to help you or if you call (800) 692-7753 a phone specialist will be able to assist you.

More than likely it is hidden and a trained expert will know how to remove it.

The number you called belongs to a criminal enterprise, you must consider your Mac compromised.

Change all passwords, get your credit cards stopped and have new ones issued. Erase your Mac and reinstall the operating system then restore your Data (Only data) from your backup. If you do not have a backup make one now.

Never let any strangers into your Mac again
