If you are running a recent OS, Software Update was replaced with the App Store quite some time ago. Open the app store and go to your Updates section to see if anything is listed there.
I have a macbook pro 10.6.8 2.4 GHZ and safari 5.1.10 every time I go on line keeps telling me to update my browser and some times can see what I want to see I already heck for system update and keeps telling me my system it update so its confusing me do not know what to do app store have some free future
when I try to downloaded there is a massage saying my system do not supported it.
thanks for your time.

Well, then the problem lies with the fact that you are running an older OS - 10.6.8. You most likely have the latest version of Safari supported under that OS; if you need to update Safari for some websites, then you would have to upgrade your OS - exactly which model/year is your MBP?

You may wish to try out a new (free) browser altogether. Both of us here are responding using Firefox <https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/> of some very late model version (? unless babowa has changed recently?)
Latest Version of FF seems to be compatible with what you report abut your system

You're welcome... 'twas nothing. I think you will like FireFox
( keep Safari around for watching Flash based videos and MP4 Quicktime - both where the the content provider website has not re-authored to comply with the HTML5 standard )
