Everything on my Mackbook deleted!

my itunes wasn't working so apple support emailed me a link that helped me through steps to fix it. I went to disk utility and erased the startup disk that it said in the directions. Then I reinstalled Mac OS X and everything is gone! it restarted as a whole new computer. I no longer have my pictures, Microsoft, nothing!! How do I get this all back?!

It was the first thing mentioned

Important: Before you erase and reinstall, back up your essential files. If you’re installing on a notebook computer, make sure your power adapter is connected and plugged in.

If you do not keep your data backed up then you lose it, unfortunately. Your only way back is a Data Retrieval Service which is very expensive.

Sorry

Pete
