I seem to have lost most of my 9000 photos when I upgraded to Yosemite 10.10.3. iPhoto won't work now and says it needs an upgrade not available in the UK. Only a few of the 9000 photos appear on Photos! HELP?

iPhoto works just fine in Yosemite 10.10.3. Have you launched it from the Applications folder?

iPhoto is greyed out with a no entry sign in applications. When you click on it it says you need an upgrade. When you click on that it says the upgrade is not available in the UK. Any thoughts? The files still seem to exist on the hard drive.
Before upgrading to OS X 10.1.3, what version of OS X was loaded on your computer?
Not sure but would have been up to date.
We have 2 iMac's and the other one has upgraded and iPhoto just said to migrate the library to photos, which it did seamlessly!
This one however has a stop sign over the iPhoto icon in Applications.

If that were true iPhoto would be working now, right click on the iPhoto icon in the Applications folder and select Get Info. The version number is about one third of the way down the spec.
Unfortunately it is dead so nothing happens when we right click.

Found it in Finder. It's version 9.6
You need 9.6.1
Apple menu App store > Purchases.
Found it and clicked update but it just went grey and did nothing ;-(
Move the incompatible iPhoto version to the Trash, before you try to reinstall from the AppStore, but don't empty the Trash.

The main idea is to move the iPhoto app to the Trash, so Spotlight does not see it as installed, reload the AppStore Purchases tab with ⌘R, and then to try to download again from the App Store - from your Purchases tab, not from the main page, since you can neither buy iPhoto nor update it, but you can reinstall, if your AppleID is associated with it.

2 choices
1. Delete iPhoto 9.6 and then go to your purchases page in the Mac App Store and redownload iPhoto, it will be up to date
2. Copy iPhoto 9.6.1 from your other Mac and paste into the Applications folder on the one that needs it
