Onscreen Keyboard Mutes with Apple Loops

(GB noob) The onscreen keyboard intermittantly becomes muted when apple loops are added. Keyboard works perfectly if no loops selected. I am careful to select the playable library instrument for the keyboard. Mute button is not selected.

Keyboard can be working, then stops when loop added. Again, I select playable instrument not the loop. Please excuse poor terminology!
