Apple Event: May 7th at 7 am PT
All of a sudden there is no sound on my MacBook Pro. When I change the volume with the keyboard controls I get a canceled symbol like this.
The volume control in the menu bar is greyed out as well. The sound works when headphones are plugged in, it's only when trying to play through the speakers that it doesn't work. Any help is much appreciated, thanks.

After reviewing your post, it sounds like the Mac does not play sound from the speakers. Are the headphones plugged in when you get no sound? I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help the issue.

I get sound when headphones are plugged in. Thanks for the article.
If you see red light in the headphone port, plug the headphone
in and out of the port 5 or 6 times to flip the microswitch inside.
Sound output may be stuck in the digital mode.
