How did the world the iPhones design?

I know this probably isn´t the right community but I couldn´t find a suitable....
I´m wondering how the world (culture, fasion, economy, other designs etc) influence the first iPhones design?

Well, you have to think about other smartphones at the time. They where complicated and hard to understand. Apple wanted to make the first truly understandable and simple to use iPhone. For more info you can google first iPhone keynote and watch what Steve Jobs says about it.
