I'm a new user of the iPad. I'm unable to download MP4 files.they play ok when on wifi but won't download Does anybody have any ideas??

im new to the iPad. I'm wanting to download MP4 files,( they are short videos for the kids to play when not connected to wifi.) But I can't seem to download them When I try all they do is play Does anybody have any ideas Please??.
