Q: Epson Printing Problems

I am still having issues with my Epson WF-3640, i have been so frustrated i erased my entire mac and reinstalled OSX.  I am currently running with all updates via apple store and have installed no additional drivers.  I am having the exact same issue as prior to reformat.  The printer installs fine, but after sleeping, sitting for a period of time or powering off the mac, the printer shows installed but cannot be found or connect.  I have noticed if i pause the print job and restart it, this sometimes makes the printer connect.  I have installed using only the apple drivers, prior to install i tried both epson's drivers from there site and apples drivers from the update menu.  None of the recent updates via app store have fixed my issue.  I have noticed i get permission errors that seem to never go away regardless of how my times i try to repair them. I believe this is part of the issue or the issue because of what the permissions say.  I would like a response from apple if possible.  I have a home office and this is really hindering my business. Please advise.

    Greetings CorpGreed,

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!

I understand that you are experiencing some very frustrating issues with your Epson WF-3640 printer. You have definitely completed a lot of great troubleshooting already to try and resolve this issue. Because the you have already completed so many good troubleshooting steps, my suggestions based on the information in the attached article may be redundant. I would suggest reading over the article however and complete any suggested troubleshooting that you have not already completed such as resetting the printing system.

Followed the tutorial step by step and still the same issue.

If you can see from the permissions errors, i can't seem to repair them permanently.

Epson's site says newer drivers are available from apple so i haven't used any of there downloads.

The wierd thing is the printer will install and work correctly initially for awhile including the scanner, but after a little period of time, when trying to print the printer can't "connect" , at that point in the printer que i see the job looking for the printer, at that point i pause the job and restart it, sometimes it will cause the printer to connect and print, sometimes it wont.

    Hi CorpGreed,

Because you have completed all of the previous suggested troubleshooting steps and the printing issue continues, you may find more information by using another one of Apple's support resources.
