Apr 29, 2015 10:44 AM in response to js.kendrickby nick101,★HelpfulIt's all down to what the accelerometer senses, which is mainly based on arm movements. For a short trip like that, your arm movement may not be normal.
A good test would be a steady walk of half a mile or more, to allow things to settle.
My watch seems to register pretty well over a period, but I don't check every few steps

Apr 29, 2015 10:43 AM in response to nick101by Littlegibbo,★HelpfulI've continued to wear my Jawbone for a couple of days to compare steps....the first day there was a pretty big gap (over 1000) but since then they have pretty much matched up within a couple of hundred - which over a day I'm ok with. (I don't mind it be a little bit out, the goal for me is to get moving and to be aware of roughly how much I move every day)
Maybe it takes a while to settle down.

Where are you finding the steps walked? I can't seem to find that information. TIA

Apr 29, 2015 12:04 PM in response to OneCleverTchrby nick101,It's in the Health app on the phone. Open the app; if it's not shown on the Dashboard, go to the Health Data tab, tap Me, open Steps and choose Show on Dashboard

May 1, 2015 1:18 PM in response to js.kendrickby alex_h1,Hello js.kendrick,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
If you're having an issue where the Apple Watch is incorrectly reporting the steps taken when you wear it, then I suggest going through the calibration directions in the first article linked to below. I also suggest wearing your Apple Watch regularly, as it will help improve the accuracy of the measurements over time.
