    Hello Braden,

Unfortunately, any of your suggestions solve the problem. I have 3 accounts in my Mail app.: Hotmail, Google, and Google for Business. the fist too work fine. the problem is with the third one. (it works fine in my iPhone) when I set up the account in my Mac, there is a screen asking me to check five blank squares:

Mail, Contacts, Calendar, Messages and Notes.  I have no problem marking Contacts, Calendar and Messages, but when I try to put the check in Mail and Notes, then it won´t let me do so.

    Any other suggestion?

    Thank you.

    Sergio.

If you add two iCloud accounts, only the first account will allow you to make all selections on what to sync. I'm guessing the same might be true for your two Google accounts. Remove the one that is not default then make your selections. Add the secondary Google account and select from the limited options.

    Hello again,

Nop, nothing works... the strange thing is that in my iphone 5S all the 3 accounts (hotmail, google, and google for business)  work fine.

    Thank you

In Mail, under Window in the Menu bar select Connection Doctor. Do you see red or green by your accounts?

You will see green to indicate a connection and red to show there is a problem. Except for iCloud and Exchange accounts you'll see two entries for each account 1) incoming and 2) SMTP for sending.

Generally, if you see red, Mail has lost the password.

Identify if it's the incoming password or the outgoing password that needs to be reset.

Incoming (Account type = IMAP or POP) is set in the main account window under Account Information tab. Click out of the account to save.

    Outgoing (Account type = SMTP)

    EDIT SMTP SETTINGS

In Accounts window > Outgoing Mail Server SMTP:  select to Edit SMTP Server list... from popup.

Select account in the list.(It's not uncommon to find extra SMTP servers listed. When you remove account, Mail does not delete the smtp info. You might need to do some clean up in the list to remove the extras.)

    Under Advanced Tab:

Apple defaults to the default ports (25,465, 587) but some servers prefer a custom port. Check to see what port they recommend. Gmail for example likes 465, Outlook.com 587.

Verify if your server require SSL.

User Name. Enter full email address  eg.  UserName@gmail.com

Add password if it is blank.(If you have two step authentication setup, you'll need to get an app specific password  more info)

    http://www.google.com/landing/2step/

Open Connection Doctor under Window in the Menu bar.

Do you see green light now for your account SMTP?

    Other options to fix

    1) If the above fails, you can remove the account in Mail and add it back.

    2) With Mail quit....

Go to the User's Library folder. This folder is hidden by default. To unhide: Select the Finder in the Dock. Under Go in the Menu bar > hold down the Option key and you’ll see the Library.

    • Go to Containers.  Drag the com.apple.mail folder to the Desktop

    • Go to Mail folder.

Select the V2 > MailData folder.

Delete any files in MailData with envelope in the name. (should be 3)

    • Go to Preferences. If you find any com.apple.mail.plist files, delete these.

Log out under the Apple in the Menu bar

    Open Mail.

    Mail will reindex your files.

Was it a password issue or did you have to do the repair options?
