Will the USB-C to USB-C target disk mode for 12" Retina MacBook support booting from a connected computer with a compatible OS installed as did the Target Disk mode for Thunderbolt and Firewire?

So far, all Macs have been able to read and boot from an external USB drive. But afaik no Mac has ever been readable as an external USB drive over USB. The first MacBook Air was a perfect example of this. It had USB but no FireWire or Thunderrbolt. If thatAir was booted in TDM, it could not be read by another Mac over USB as an external hard drive. The newest MBP hardware needs to be able to detect the type of connection from the outside. I've made inquiries.
