Office 2004 Update

Question

Office 2004 Update

Hi

Software update has told me that I have updates waiting for Office 2004. I tried to install them however after the software downloads, the system looks for compatible software and then tells me that there is no compatible software that can be found and that I should read the readme file. I have a legally purchased copy of office 04 that's running and i have read the readme file and everything looks legit. Any ideas?

Software Update does not update Office. Are you referring to Microsoft's Automatic Update? What version of Office are you updating? Have you installed all the previous Office updates? Did you quit all Office applications before trying to update?

I did it yesterday. My half vast mind recalls that it included prior updates.

Have you moved or renamed any of the MS Office 2004 folder content? Did you have the Test Drive installed but not fully removed (using the Remove Office utility)?

Try going to the Mactopia site:

http://www.microsoft.com/mac/

Click the 11.3 update link on the right & see if that works better - and use Repair Disk Permissions both before & after installing the update.

I've followed this thread and followed all the advice, but to no avail. I had the same problem. "The installer could not locate the correct version of the software required to install this update. See the Read Me file included with this installer to determine if your software meets the requirements for this update."
I reinstalled Office 2004 and then attempted to download and install the previous updates 11.2.0 and got the same message. The previous install had accepted 11.2.0, and I am now back at 11.0. Also, when I now activate Word, I get an error message "An unexpected error occurred while trying to load the Microsoft Framework library." However, after clicking the OK button on this message, I can proceed and use Word normally.
Anyone with any ideas?
