Transitioned to Photos. Now I can't import pictures to my editing software. The Library is greyed out?

I transitioned to Photos and all my photos are there. Everything was fine. I use a program for editing with my Bamboo Tablet and import photos from my library as a layer to the project I'm working on. The program is called ArtRage Studio if that matters. When I am using ArtRage, and I need to import a picture as a layer, i can't. I navigate to the file location of my "library", which I see both the iPhoto Library icon and a Photo Library icon, but I can't select them. I use to be able to just select Pictures like I do in Finder but now this garbage program Photos has screwed everything up. I have to actually launch Photos view anything. I can't view anything in the finder either like I use to.

This is garbage. I know its a longshot that someone also uses ArtRage, but am i missing something ? Why can't I view my location of the photos I have?

The new Photos is an entirely different app than iPhoto was and requires plugins from the 3rd party editor developers to be able to use them to edit photos in the library. In the meantime we'll need to export the original file to the Desktop, edit it there with the 3rd party app and then import the edited version back into the library as a new photo. 😟

So we're at the mercy of the 3rd party app developers. I know Pixelator just came out with a new version that can access the Photos library to obtain photos to edit. But all edits have to be saved to the Desktop and imported as new photos.

1 - you can continue to use iPhoto exactly as before - it is in your applications folder - launch it

2 - there is no external editor implemented for Photos yet that I know of - rather than a Photos feature implemented by Apple this will now be done by the software vendor using extensions so until your vendor implements an extension your only choice with Photos is to export the image, edit it, save and import back to Photos
