can i control my apple tv with my windows tablet

I recently purchased a windows tablet ($120 from dhgate.com) and I have the HTC one M8 for windows, is there a way for me to control my Apple TV box? Currently the only thing compatible is my iPod 2g which getting old. My phone has a remote in it which I control our TV and Receiver with but I don't see anything for the apple TV. The tablet runs full windows 8.1-32bit with all functions of a standard laptop (like a much lower quality MacBook air). Any ideas?
