Apr 30, 2015 4:26 AM in response to Hamish_Angusby VikingOSX,Safari is installed by the operating system, and is not available as a separate download. Yosemite is not OS X 10.9.5, it is now OS X 10.10.3. Which do you actually have?
Perform a full backup of your Mac. Then, apply the appropriate combo updater that matches the version of OS X that you have installed. Follow the combo updater with any other more recent software updates via the OS X App Store. It would be a good idea afterwards to run Disk Utility and verify/repair your permissions on the boot drive.

Apr 30, 2015 5:54 AM in response to Hamish_Angusby Barney-15E,Applications can't get viruses. Deleting Safari was a waste of time.
You might have installed an extension which can be easily removed, Or, you may have just installed adware which will still be there after reinstalling Safari.
What at were the symptoms that caused you to assume Safari had a virus?

Apr 30, 2015 5:59 AM in response to Hamish_Angusby JimmyCMPIT,If you didn't empty your trash it's possible Safari is still in there. Pull it out and run put it back into your applications folder.
then run http://www.adwaremedic.com/index.php to remove any adware.
