Logic x freezing when duplicating tracks

Hi. I recently moved from Logic 9 to Logic X and am having serious issues with projects freezing upon using CMD + D to duplicate tracks.

My system is as follows:

Yosemite 10.10.2

Logic Pro X 10.1.1

Mac Pro late 2013

i7 4790

16GB RAM

128gb SSD HDD

2 X 1TB audio HDD's

The duplication of tracks will gradually get slower and slower as the project builds up to the point where I have 70 tracks and the spinning wheel will come up even when duplicating an Audio or MIDI track that has no plugins whatsoever, no instruments and no midi or audio on the line itself lasting for over 30 seconds before it duplicates.

I have gone through multiple projects and its the same across everyone. I have gone through each channel removing all the plugins and instruments to see if it was a plugin causing the issue but no joy.

I have removed all plugins/instruments/automation/bus routing from every channel leaving just the audio and midi behind and its still 30+ seconds of freezing...... but when i start to remove the midi/audio from the project line by line, it starts to quicken up again.

I have opened the projects in Logic 9 and duplicating the tracks are fine, no freezing just instant duplication.... as soon as I open them in Logic X I get this huge freeze up.

If I add tracks at the top of the arrange with the '+' option, there are no issues, as normal speedily adds a track..... something very odd is going on and I can't for the love of me work it out.

Any suggestions welcomed as this is effecting my workflow massively.

I've just installed this on my macbook pro and am getting exactly the same issues.... on the verge of returning to Logic 9. What a waste!

No such issue here... Just tried duplicating tracks with Kontakt and several FX plugins in... and Im up to 80 tracks with no issues...

OS X 10.10.3 + LPX 10.1.1

This on a much lower spec'd Mac that yours..... (2011 i7 iMac) other than I have 32GB RAM so maybe its a memory issue?

So... given you are using a small SSD as a system disk... How much System HD space do you have left on each Mac as a percentage? (You should keep about 30% free at all times)

If you restart your Mac, load the project as is and duplicate a track, does the problem continue?

How much free RAM do you have after loading your project?

Finally as a diagnostic tool...

Hi Nigel, thanks for getting back to me.

My SSD has 80% space free with only 30G being used... same on the macbook... I did a clean install of Yosemite the other week to make sure both systems were matching... there is barely anything on the computer.

I really can't see it being a memory issue, as outlined about everything duplicates fine on the same systems within Logic 9. It is 100% an issue with Logic X and not my systems... otherwise I would see the same problem within 9.

Restart doesn't make any difference, same problems.

If I open up the Activity Monitor and play the project the CPU is working at around 25%, RAM dedicating 700MB to Logic... then when I duplicate the track the CPU spikes to 115% and logic x shows as (not responding) RAM stays the same then after 30 seconds or so the track duplicates and everything drops to normal.

So.. you will need to find your answers elsewhere as Hackintoshs and therefore their Users.. are not supported in these forums...
