Q: Trouble w/ipod touch 3rd generation not recognizing gift card

My ipod touch 3rd generation will not recognize credit added from an itunes gift card. It wants to charge credit card associated with the account. No where do I have the option to choose "none". HELP!!

iPod touch, iOS 6.1.6

Why can’t I select None when I edit my payment information?
