May 2, 2015 2:12 PM in response to Davefromchesterfieldby K Shaffer,★HelpfulHave you tried starting the computer with the OS X install DVD in the optical
drive, (hold C key down on startup) and hope you could check & repair the
hard disk drive from the booted Disk Utility in the installer menu bar options?
You could repair disk, and also repair disk permissions, then see if the Mac
would restart by choose a startup disk from the menu options in the Installer. It should be able to start in Mac OS X in the hard drive, unless other issues
exist in the hardware or the software. You may have to try & reinstall OSX.
Hopefully you have an external archive of your content so if the computer's
hard disk drive has failed or has corrupted data, you may later restore your
files from the archive after re-installing and updating OS X. If it comes to that.
Hard to say what happened, the RealPlayer version may be suspect; and
depending on where you got the file, it could be corrupt or the wrong version.
In any event...
Good luck & happy computing!
