My iCloud bookmarks just disappeared across all of my devices. They are important to me. How do I get them back?

Out of the blue my iCloud bookmarks for Safari have disappeared. I was browsing the web and the next thing I knew my personalized favorites bar was replaced by stock search engines. Where are my bookmarks and how do I get them back?
