Your Java Version is Out Dated

Hello,

Any reason why Java keeps reporting that your java version if out of date. I have the latest version installed Version 8 update 45. When I go to the Verify Java Version page it prompts me that its out of date but if click update later it reports that the latest version is installed. Also if I select Do not ask again until the next update is available, it still prompts me again next time.

It's possible that whatever you have installed that's generating that message is looking for the last version of Java from Apple.

That article says that if you want the latest version go to the java site directly which I have done and installed. But whenever I try and use Java it constantly asks me to update even though I have the latest version. I have an iMac which did not have have Java installed, I installed the latest version and same issue.

Go to system preferences, and look for the Java tab which should be located in the bottom left corner. From there it should tell you whether or not your java is up to date. You are most likely not using the officially compatible version of Java for OS X, in which case I recommend uninstalling your current version by moving the application into the trash and secure erasing, and then re-downloading the official mac compatible version of java, which can be downloaded here.

I believe that is for Java 6, it also mentions on the site that if you need the latest just go to the java site which I did. But I still have the same issue and can reproduce it on 2 different macs.

Okay this is driving me bonkers. Does anyone know if this is an OS X (Safari) problem, a Java problem, or a vendor problem. I can't seem to shake it after doing multiple downloads to update and trying to select "do not ask until the next update is available". Any Apple tech savvy suggestions would be very much appreciated.

Just out of curiosity, did you try installing the Java version from Apple that I linked to in my first post and then PRiSTiQUE linked to? If so, what happened?

I'm running 1.8.0_65-b17 which is the most recent version, having gone to the java website to verify the plugin version and I get the exact same error. The same thing has happened in previous releases and eventually goes away.

This is very annoying.
