May 1, 2015 7:53 AM in response to sirrogerfelgarby Kurt Lang,A quick check would be to open the System Preferences and see if there's a Login Item under your account that has something to do with coupons. For the second one, anyway. No way to know if the first image is related to the second.

May 1, 2015 1:07 PM in response to Kurt Langby sirrogerfelgar,Thanks for your reply, Kurt. Yes, I have checked and there is no Login Item related to the coupond item. I was not suggesting the two dialog boxes are related other than they both appear at startup and want to get rid of them by giving them the permissions the request permanently.

May 1, 2015 2:53 PM in response to sirrogerfelgarby Kurt Lang,Oye! There's a LOT of junk on your Mac. OS X does not need the help of any kind of anti virus or other such software. Apps like CleanMyMac are all some of the worst things you can use. They are all known to inadvertently remove system files. Symantec Internet Security isn't doing anything OS X's built in firewall can't do for free, and without anywhere near as much RAM usage. And you don't even need that if your router has its own firewall. I also see at least two items the coupon popups could be coming from. I would remove at least these items:
/Applications/Utilities/Western Digital Utilities/Extras/WD +TURBO Installer.app
[not loaded] com.wdc.driver.1394HP (1.0.9) [Click for support]
[not loaded] com.wdc.driver.USBHP (1.0.11) [Click for support]\
OS X does not need the help of any software of any kind to read/write its own file system. These types of add-ons have been know to cause data loss. I'd get rid of these before anything else. Never install the garbage software that comes with hard drives.

May 1, 2015 7:27 PM in response to sirrogerfelgarby thomas_r.,I'd agree with Kurt... it's been a while since I've seen a machine with so much junk installed! There's so much that just plain shouldn't be installed. It may be easier for you to just erase the hard drive, reinstall the system, and then reinstall only those few apps on your system that aren't junk.
The list of junk to not reinstall includes Norton (or anything else by Symantec), Trusteer Rapport, CleanMyMac and any Western Digital software. Apps like Tech Tool Pro and Disk Warrior are completely unnecessary, since a modern drive that needs repair probably actually needs replacement. Disk Utility will do everything that actually needs to be done in this area. You also have three different virtual machine apps installed; only one is needed, or none if you aren't using them at this point. You should minimize the number of internet plug-ins and browser extensions you install, since the more you have, the more chances of browser instability or security vulnerabilities.

May 1, 2015 10:34 PM in response to Kurt Langby sirrogerfelgar,Kurt,
I know you meant well, but all that chastising really didn't address my questions regarding the two dialog boxes. Yiddish exclamations aside, I feel like I have to justify my system to you now.
If you had actually looked at the Western Digital driver listings, you would have seen they have not been installed and I just kept them in a folder for archival purposes.
I use Clean My Mac for old preference files and the like- very judiciously, but I will reconsider the keeping background tasks installed.
While there are no viruses for the Mac per se, I don't want to pass on viruses to my Windows partition or to my friends who use Windows. Plus the Norton Internet Security has actually prevented some malicious attacks that the Apple Firewall did not, resource hog or not.
As for my two questions about the dialog boxes, I'm still not sure why coupond always asks for permissions I have already given it in my firewall settings. I actually use the service, and don't want to delete it if possible. Lastly, how can I grant com.apple.internetaccounts permanent access to my keychain, preventing the other dialog box from showing up?
Best,
Nick

May 1, 2015 10:47 PM in response to thomas_r.by sirrogerfelgar,Thomas,
Please see my reply to Kurt above so I don't have to repeat myself too much.
To address your concerns about TechToolPro and Disk Warrior, I'm not really sure what the issue is. I have found that sometimes errors in the directory and elsewhere can only be fixed with programs other than Apple's own Disk Utility. Plus, TechToolPro can run other tests besides the disk systems as well.
I will reconsider the Trusteer Rapport software. I installed it for my online banking sessions. If I find that it has no benefit I will consider removing it.
As for my virtualization software, I have different environments running under different machines because each one runs certain environments better than others. Plus, I need to test websites and software in Windows and like to test as many permutations as possible. Not sure what the harm is in all that. Should I delete one of my solitaire programs because I have two different apps? Maybe I like having both.
I'll look through my browser plug-ins when I get a chance. There may be a few I don't recognize.
But after all that, I am still no closer to getting my original questions answered. Any thoughts on those in specific?
best,
Nick

Western Digital software was recently responsible for data loss following a Mac OS X update, due to improper coding by Western Digital. It should never be used, for anything, and really serves no real purpose. There is no need for any vendor-specific software in order to use a hard drive. The kernel extensions may not be loaded currently, but the software is on your computer, and poses potential risks if you should open it at some point in the future.
I use Clean My Mac for old preference files and the like- very judiciously, but I will reconsider the keeping background tasks installed.
You shouldn't use it for anything. It has also been known to cause data loss and even system damage requiring a reinstall. That's a lot to risk to remove a few dozen kilobytes of old preference files that aren't doing you any harm.
While there are no viruses for the Mac per se, I don't want to pass on viruses to my Windows partition or to my friends who use Windows. Plus the Norton Internet Security has actually prevented some malicious attacks that the Apple Firewall did not, resource hog or not.
No it didn't. Norton is well-known for reporting false positives in that area. It's also well-known for causing moderate to severe performance and stability problems.
As for the Windows malware, get ClamXav. It's small and unobtrusive, and will let you scan files that you receive from Windows users to screen them for malware. That's the only thing you need anti-virus software for, you don't need some behemoth constantly chewing away in the background.

I have found that sometimes errors in the directory and elsewhere can only be fixed with programs other than Apple's own Disk Utility. Plus, TechToolPro can run other tests besides the disk systems as well.
Once upon a time, hard drives could be easily corrupted, and these kinds of utilities were useful. On any modern hard drive, if it has errors, it is at least in the early stages of hardware failure. If Disk Utility can't repair it, the drive should be replaced. Even if Disk Utility can repair it, the drive should be treated with suspicion from then on; data on it should be backed up religiously, and even then runs the risk of becoming corrupt (and having that corruption propagate into your backups).
I will reconsider the Trusteer Rapport software. I installed it for my online banking sessions. If I find that it has no benefit I will consider removing it.
I'm a security guy. I have never heard of a single case of Trusteer Rapport protecting a Mac user from anything. It is known to cause performance problems, crashes and other odd behavior in Safari.
As for my virtualization software, I have different environments running under different machines because each one runs certain environments better than others.
If you have a specific reason to keep all three, then keep them. I've never encountered anyone who had two or more installed who actually used more than one of them, thus the recommendation to remove the ones you don't use.
But after all that, I am still no closer to getting my original questions answered. Any thoughts on those in specific?
It is my opinion that trying to give advice on that is a waste of time, given the current state of your system. As it stands now, your system is unmaintainable.
I recommended erasing your hard drive and reinstalling for good reason. That will not only clean up your system, and put it back into a state where it can be relied on to work properly, but it will also likely fix the problem you are having. If the problem continues after doing this and reinstalling that coupon software, it is likely something that you will need to ask the maker of that coupon software about.
