My mac book pro keeps showing characters"\\\\\\\\\\\" but I am not typing. It is annoying and I checked my keyboard. Nothing is wrong.

However, I suspect you have a problem with the keyboard, specifically the "/" key. I would make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store rather than trying to fix it yourself since you may do more damage.
