Q: Out of 2 LCI's in Iphone 5s one turned pink. I am 100% sure that the Iphone not in contact with water or any liquid. Any resolutions?

I recently bought an iphone5s (1month). Being honest, I didn't put the phone in water nor in any liquid. Not even a single drop of water allowed to touch the phone as it was always covered with the case. But yesterday when I was listening to songs out of a sudden the phone switched off. I could able to see the white screen on it with some pinkish background on the display. Nothing was working. I pressed power button and home button to shut it down. The screen turned black. After that when I tried to switch it on, the phone didn't turn on. I went to the authorised service center in Mysore, India. He checked the phone and told me that the phone was in contact with water and had triggerd the LCI. I was furious and asked him to show it to me as I am 100% sure that the phone was not in contact with water. He showed me 2 LCI's one on the board and one on the panel. Out of these 2 one on the board turned pink. The Display panel one is still white. He told me that the phone doesn't cover under warranty. I was very angry as I am sure that the phone was not in contact with water. Even if it was in contact my question is how come the other LCI didnt trigger to pink color.?? How come phone turn off suddenly out of a sudden?? Really disappointed to hear the phone didnt cover under warranty. Since I have to travel back to my workplace I didnt able to send it for review. I want some one to look into this and help me in resolving it. Does this cover under warranty? Please help..

We are not Apple, we are users like you.  We can't solve your problem. I suggest you ask Apple to just replace the pink LCI.  If, in fact, your phone never contacted water or moisture, then that will fix your problem.

    RichmondDan,

Thanks for your valuable inputs. Today I went to apple service center just to come out unhappy. I told them the situation and asked to test the whole device for any water spots or any kind of rust. They took the device just to end up saying lci triggered. I asked them to give me the reports what they had just tested. They refused to provide the same. I closely looked into the screenshots which I had captured at their service center in mysore. There are few water sports which looks if its been made during the testing in their service center. I called up their support center team. At first they agreed to provide me the footages of the service center then they disagreed to provide the same. I have the images which can clearly says that something got messed up during their testing. Is their any one which I can contact right up here who can help me with this situation ?

We are not Apple.  If you want to contact Apple, use the link on the bottom right corner of this page ("Contact Us").

Remember, though, the pink LCI is not the problem.  The problem is your phone's failure to work.  The LCI just describes what may have caused the failure.  You said it failed in your possession, before servicing at Apple, therefore Apple didn't cause your phone's failure. Again, we cannot help...contact Apple.

Just for the record, LCI is just a dumb indicator that changes color when in contact with moisture. It's not an electronic sensor, it's not connected to anything and it doesn't turn the iPhone off. Replacing it would have absolutely no effect on the iPhone.

I know that.  My response was meant to be wry humor, which apparently was a little too subtle. (I thought the smiley face would help, but I guess not).

I did get the humor, but thought it worthwhile to explain to those reading this thread who might not know how LCIs work. (I thought the "for the record" would help, but I guess not).
