My updates won't download onto my Ipod. How can I get them to start downloading when i tap on update?

I am trying to download some updates on my son's Ipod. He has version iOS 8.3. When I tap on the update button I get a spinning circle and it doesn't go away. I have tried a few different updates and i get the same thing with all of them. None of the apps will update. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

iPod touch, iOS 8.3

Try:

- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost

Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at

least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

- Go to Settings.iTunes and App Stores and sign out and sign back in

- Download updates on computer and sync

- Reset all settings

Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.

All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.

- Restore from backup. See:

iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
