May 2, 2015 3:10 PM in response to Prowlusby Ghostgirll,That surprises me actually because when I called the third party distributor in Carlisle they told me that Apple were only allowing the Watches to be shown in Apple Stores and that they (a shop called Stormfront) would at no point have any of the Watch products in their store. They kindly informed me that my nearest Apple Store was in Glasgow.

May 2, 2015 3:35 PM in response to AppleManc168by nick101,You might have seen that there's been a manufacturing issue at on of the two Watch suppliers - meaning Apple has had to reject their production (haptic notification mechanism failing). That appears to be the main cause of slow fulfilment

May 2, 2015 11:55 PM in response to ukflyerby Ghostgirll,Thanks for the info, ukflyer!
I've been keeping an eye on the much bigger, "Apple Watch Shipping Notices" thread also, and it would seem that the space grey/black strap combo seems is a very popular model both here and Stateside, however I hope you get some good news soon!
I'm pretty sure I have a long wait for mine yet, having only ordered on Launch Day. On the other hand I so far haven't come across anyone else who's ordered my particular combo of 42mm stainless steel with blue leather loop. Mind you at this stage I'm not sure whether that's a good or a bad thing, who knows!?!
Can you keep this thread informed of your Order's process please? Thanks

May 2, 2015 11:58 PM in response to Ghostgirllby nick101,Yes, it seems that space grey/black has been the ingle most popular combo so, unhappily for those who ordered it, it seems to be having the longest wait.
The manufacturing issue won't be helping either.

May 3, 2015 12:06 AM in response to nick101by Ghostgirll,Has there been any official confirmation of how widespread the Taptic Engine manufacturing issue actually is, Nick?
-
May 3, 2015 12:24 AM in response to Ghostgirllby nick101,Sort of. The original article is here:
http://www.wsj.com/articles/apple-watch-faulty-taptic-engine-slows-roll-out-1430 339460
Apple has confirmed that there's an issue and that "no defective watches have been shipped to customers"
The inference from the article is that around half the production run is affected, which explain why (a) delivery timetables are so long and (b) why Apple hasn't been able to give more specific estimates.
However, as someone else in the thread noted, in recent days, people have been getting revised, shorter, estimates.

May 3, 2015 1:31 AM in response to Ghostgirllby AppleManc168,I know that they can't foresee issues like this, but this isn't something that is only just happening, otherwise Apple wouldn't know that they haven't shipped defective units. I don't understand how they could've continued with the marketing for the product, including the entire preorder fiasco when they knew they were have severe delays.
It just ruins the customer experience, deflates any excitement for the product and tarnishes the launch of what is a pretty incredible piece of technology.
Oh and still no movement on my order lol

May 3, 2015 2:09 AM in response to AppleManc168by nick101,My understanding is that they found out about the problem a very short time before deliveries were supposed to start (they call modern manufacturing and logistics "Just in Time" for a reason )
It might be better if they said openly that their original delivery plans have been disrupted - but that's never been the Apple way.
It *is* frustrating, no question.
I don't know whether you feel it's worth your going over to the feedback page and suggesting that they provide more of an explanation; on past experience, it's not likely that they will, but you might think it's worth a try:

May 3, 2015 2:18 AM in response to ukflyerby Tony Goldenfeld,I ordered that spec in 38mm via Apple Store app at 0805 and got same delivery date as you. On last Wednesday status changed (no email received) and on Thursday it was despatched (no email) and it came on Friday, with emails.

May 3, 2015 2:43 AM in response to Tony Goldenfeldby Ghostgirll,Thanks Tony, good to know you've already received your watch
Can you give me a bit more detail on the exact Model and strap please, 38mm you say? Was that a Sport or Stainless Steel model, and what type of strap? Also, where in the UK are you?
-
May 3, 2015 6:14 AM in response to Ghostgirllby Tony Goldenfeld,★HelpfulHI, it's aN Apple Watch Sport with black strap, lowest of the low. Living in Birmingham though I don't believe location makes a difference....luck of the draw I suppose? or maybe AppStore purchases take precedence over web orders? The packaging is one of the most impressive things about it, I hadn't read about it before. It's to die for.

May 3, 2015 6:14 AM in response to Tony Goldenfeldby jimkraz,★HelpfulI got my e-mail yesterday, my 38mm Sports Space-Gray with Black strap had been dispatched, unfortunately being the weekend and being sent out via UK Mail, a private mail company in UK, it is sitting somewhere and if no movement till Tuesday, Bank Holiday Monday, I should receive mine on Wednesday, I am in Scotland so it has to travel to Glasgow depot then out to me in Ayrshire. I have received e-mail today to set up a Video online personal setup but till I receive it I cant do that, but think I will be able to do that myself having read the iBook manual three times.

May 3, 2015 6:13 AM in response to jimkrazby Ghostgirll,Another Scottish based Apple Addict, lol. Thanks jimraz, not much longer for you to wait then!
Did you pre-order on the 10th like most folks on here? What was the original estimated dispatch date for your order?
-
May 3, 2015 7:08 AM in response to Ghostgirllby jimkraz,Yes I did pre-order on the 10th on or about 8.20-8.25am, my original date was 14th May-27th May, just wish delivery was Tuesday as I have to go out a couple of times on the Wednesday for a short time and being that the depot for UKMail is in Glasgow I would not want to miss it.
