iOS10.7.5 Lion lost its sound, had to force quit System Preferences, cannot restore it through the Sound in System Preferences. HELP

Backup the computer.
Close all windows and quit all applications.
Hold the option key down and click the "Go" menu in the Finder menubar.
Select "Library" from the dropdown, then "Preferences" folder.
Look for this file.
com.apple.systempreferences.plist
Right click on it and select " Move To Trash" from the contextual menu.
Restart the computer.
Backup the computer.
Close all windows and quit all applications.

Had quit using Safari for a while, now tried your suggestion and it worked.
I had to force quit Systems Preferences, now my sound is completely gone, including the little icon from top bar. HELP
