I have three gmail accounts within Mac Mail and ever since last Yosemite software update, the Internet Accounts alert from System Preferences pops up prompting me to enter password again. This is annoying. Any suggestions?

Applications/Utilities/Keychain Access - try deleting the passwords there. While there, Keychain Access menu/First Aid.
OK I ran the First Aid and there were errors that were cleaned up. As for the passwords, I deleted the google.oauth-token application passwords and I immediately started getting emails from gmail for my accounts that said new sign-in activity was monitored on a device. I later saw there is also passwords for imap.gmail.com and smpt.gmail.com.... Do I delete those too?
Are you still getting the requests for System Preferences? If so, delete those also. If not leave them.

Finally got around to deleting everything in key chain and it seemed okay for one day (maybe less) and now it starts back up again. Another issue is Mail crashes often (four times a day), especially when awakening from sleep mode. Its quite annoying, and all of this happened after the last software update.
You know it's funny. After I downloaded the 10.10.3 update I not only had that pop-up problem with gmail, but my 2009 MacBook Pro started having serious problems like being slow and displaying the color spinning wheel. I thought things got better after I did a series of resets, but I still have the problem. I don't really want to back-up and re-install Yosemite, but after almost a month of problems I may have to or buy a new MacBook Pro. I'm hoping that another update is in the works to rectify the problem because it is the Yosemite OS.
Okay I ran the combo update. It seemed okay for one day and then the pop-ups from sys preferences for the gmail accounts started up again. This morning, mail had crashed when I awoke the Mac and I also saw all of the warning pop-up flags from preferences along the notification pane. Not sure if that issue with gmail accounts is what is crashing mail all of the time. My Mac seems to run better over all after the combo update: I was also having issues with iTunes pausing playback all of the time after that previous update. I was also experiencing sluggish performance overall before the combo update (memory, spinning wheel) and I have a very beefed up machine here.
What I did after restarting Mail today is I deleted ALL of my gmail accounts (since they are IMAP anyways). I re-setup only two of them in Mail. Then i checked Mail preferences and see that for incoming and outgoing server info, Mail did NOT fill-out the password and for the user name it left off "@gmail.com" -- any idea if that is required?
I'll test it today to see if this clears up the issues I was having.
Okay so deleting the gmail accounts from Mail worked (since they were IMAP). After recreating them again, no more issues. Now if only my iTunes playback would stop pausing sporadically, I'd be back a happy camper!
I had the same problem. Every time I launched Mail, Internet Accounts asked for my Gmail password for one of my two accounts. After reading everything in this thread, I decided to check my Mail preferences, and found that the incoming server username and password fields for that account were blank. I filled them in and so far, so good. I'm not sure why the fields were blank, but stuff happens.
I'm having the same problem, even though my gmail account is working fine in mac mail but I keep getting the Google Password Required popup to enter my password in internet accounts. When I try to do that all I get is the blank pupup window with a spinning wheel that never goes away. I was able to update the password on my laptop without any problem.
Any suggestions?
Gmail email accounts are IMAP (you can access across various devices and they are synced because email is kept on the server versus POP email accounts where emails are downloaded to the device). if you delete the gmail account like I did from Mail, it removes it from internet accounts too. Then just add the account back to Mail which will create a new entry in internet accounts. You will see all of you emails come back.

Ok, I've deleted the gmail account from my internet accounts and mac mail but now it won't let me add it again... I'm getting a message that it already exists even though it's not showing in mail or internet accounts?
Do you have any other gmail accounts listed in Mail? Quit both Mail and Sys preferences before you re-add the account and use Mail to create or add it again (you could also restart just to make sure nothing is running in the background before you add the account again).
