login screen disappears

late 2009 iMac 21.5

When I wake my computer, the login screen appears then disappears.

I shut it down, remove the power plug, wait several minutes and when

I power on the login screen is normal - but after a day or two, when I

wake it, the login screen flashes and then disappears.

Solutions welcome, thank you

What version of OS X are you running?

I am using the latest version of Yosemite.

The login screen flashes then goes black with the cursor whoeing.

Sometimes I can just type in my login Password and it logs in.

Sometimes, I have to press power button to shut it off and then restart.
