How to organize songs in ipod 7th gen?

I organize my songs on itunes alphabetically (according to artist or song name) but nothing happens on my ipod when I sync. I need some sort of coherent order in my ipod so I can use it! I'm a dancer and I teach... I need to find my music fast!!
