Should I turn fitness tracking off on my iphone?

In my Health app, when I have both my iPhone and my Apple Watch as sources for my steps it seems that it's recording duplicate data when I'm carrying both my phone and the watch......is this normal/okay? Should I turn it off on my phone so that only the watch is tracking my steps ?

Apple Watch, iOS 8.3

You shouldn't need to. Apple told me that activity tracking will default to data from the watch first as it's more accurate. I've left the step tracking on, on my iPhone and watch and I haven't seen any abnormal step data, compared to what I used to get with just my phone.

One point to note though, is the watch takes some time to calibrate to you. If you add in your height, weight etc. and carry your iPhone with you when you first go for run's/walks, the watch is meant to calibrate to your stride over time to become more accurate (using GPS), so I assume for the first week or two you might get some discrepancy as it adjusts.
