I'm considering buying an Ipad2 air but, I'm a video tech and am wondering if it is possible to send video data out and, keep power coming in so that my wall doesn't die half way through a show.

I assume you are talking about cable output. You could switch to wifi out via appletv.

Actually mate, I don't see it as being possible as I need to hard wire it, if I ran wifi and and lets say there's 20,000 folks in the audience using their cell phones??
I just picked one up (iPad) but, will not use it for video

I like cable over wifi too.
There are power and data connectors for the older 30pin iPads 2 & 3 & iPhones.
