Playing slideshows

Since installing this new version of Photos Slideshows take forever to start, anyone help me on why? There's not a lot of photos on any of my slideshows but whenever requesting them to play they just wait... and wait... and wait... and eventually, maybe, get started, once you've forgotten why you wanted to view them. In fact I'd say this new version is utter rubbish.
