Q: Install W8.1 on iMac 21.5 Late-2013 failed

I did try everything to get it work but no success.

Started bootcamp and partitionned 200GB on my Fusion Drive.

Bootcamp created my USB with a W8.1 Pro and the drivers.

I replaced the driver with BootCamp5.1.5640 as my mac was listed to use this drivers in this KB.

Boot Camp Support Software 5.1.5621

No can do, I always get the same error when Windows try to install

Anyone an idea why it doesn't work as it should be?

    1. There is no reason to replace the drivers on a USB created by BC Assistant? Please read both links carefully.

    2. From System requirements to install Windows on your Mac via Boot Camp - Apple Support, your iMac needs

Boot Camp Support Software 5.1.5640 which has

    File Size: 925.6 MB

    System Requirements

    • MacBook Air (11-inch & 13-inch, Mid 2013)

    • Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows 8.1, 64 bit

As noted in Boot Camp Support Software 5.1.5621, it does not support your iMac.

That's OK. I will not change the drivers when creating the usb via BCA.

But it doesn't answer my question:

    • How can I install W8.1 on that iMac!

It user to work without any problem on my mid-2011

In fact this is a new iMac (got it last thursday)

Or If could install at least W7, I would already be happy.

But this one doesn't work either.

    OK! Got it working.. finally!

Main problem is that I wasn't seeing my fusion drive but I was seeing the SSD AND the Mechanical Drive!

I deleted the partition I created before via Disk Utility, rebooted, started BCA.

Did a new USB with default drivers, partitioned again, downloaded the 5640 and started installation.

Once restarted I could only see my Fusion drive AND the BOOTCAMP partition.

    Installed correctly now.
