Stand not tracking in Activity App of Apple Watch
Is there a setting that turns off the tracking of Standing by the activity app? So far my watch has not tracked that I have done any standing today.

Hi
For the purpose of crediting the hourly Stand achievement, your Apple Watch aims to identify when you have stood up and moved around for at least one minute during that hour.
Apple Watch uses an accelerometer to identify movement, so arm movement equivalent to changing from a seated to a standing position followed by a minute's walk around with your arms swinging naturally should help to register this.
Under the latest versions of iOS and watchOS: if you believe that you have met this requirement, but Stand credits are still not being awarded, then it may help to follow these steps, which have previously resolved the same issue for other users:
If you have not yet done so, update your iPhone and Apple Watch to the latest software, starting with your iPhone:
On your iPhone in the Watch app, go to: My Watch (tab) > Passcode > check that Wrist Detection is turned on.
If Passcode is enabled, check that you are unlocking your watch each day after placing it on your wrist and that you are wearing your watch sufficiently snugly (neither too tightly nor too loosely).
On your iPhone, in the Watch app, to go: My Watch > Health.
On your iPhone, in the Watch app, go to: My Watch > Privacy - turn Fitness Tracking off.
Restart both devices by turning both off together, then restarting your iPhone first:
Re-enable Fitness Tracking.
It may also help to calibrate your Apple Watch, including resetting any existing calibration data:
Activity-related estimations also depend, in part, on your personal information. To check that this is accurate - and to update it over time:
On your iPhone, in the Watch app, go to: My Watch (tab) > Health > Edit - tap and adjust items, then tap on Done.
If the issue persists, then I suggest that you contact Apple Support (remote diagnostics and/or mail-in service may be available, if required), make a Genius Bar reservation or visit an Apple Authorised Service Provider for assistance:

Under the current version of iOS, the Wrist Detection option is not under General.
Instead, on your iPhone, in the Watch app, go to:
My Watch (tab) > Passcode > Wrist Detection.

Note that Wrist Detection can be affected by temporary or permanent skin changes, such as by some wrist tattoos.

If this does not apply and if, after following the steps in my previous reply, the Stand feature is still not working as expected, then I suggest that you contact Apple Support (mail-in service may be available, if required), make a Genius Bar reservation or visit an Apple Authorised Service Provider for assistance:
Whether or not tattoos prevent the Wrist Detection feature from working can depend on their ink, pattern and saturation level:

It may help to wear your Apple Watch on your other wrist.
uber annoying
I'm standing, working on my computer, and the doggone thing vibrates to tell me that it's time to stand up. seriously??
Wrist Detection? I don't see it in My Watch > General on my iPhone. There is a "Wrist Orientation" option.
Right! I found that clarification in another of your posts -- performed your troubleshooting steps and the problem is resolved. I hope my appreciation is ample reward. Thank you!
You're welcome! 🙂
I had this problem some of the hours today. i thought maybe it had something to do with the location-tracking ony iPhone, so i put the phone in my pocket, took a walk around in my kitchen, and then it actually worked! :)
I hope that is it. I turned off wrist detection then realized that it stopped tracking my Stand. Weird that Apple doesn't mention this in the wrist detection description of use.... would help Apple!!!
I JUST got my watch and was having the exact same issue. I have a tat on my left wrist and it is just dark enough to cause it to fail to detect my wrist for notifications as well as the standing. I hate that it effects the watch this way because I was going to get sleeves done on both arms and now I have to take into consideration what color and how low I go if I want the watch to continue to function properly in the future. My guess is it will be your tattoo and if you switch wrists it will work as expected.

My Wrist detection is on and it still doesn't detect standing
Try following the steps in my previous reply within this thread:
I don't know for sure this is the answer, but I suspect the watch is not literally detecting you standing up. It tells you to stand up and move around. I suspect it's detecting the constant movement for one minute and assumes you stood up to do that.
Try walking around for that minute and see if it affects your stats.

Patrick123, my understanding is that the app is supposed to track when you stand, so that you only get the standing reminder if you haven't been standing in awhile. I'm having the same issue though, it's rare for an hour to go by where I haven't already gotten up to stand/walk multiple times, yet according to my watch it would show random hours where I didn't stand at all (yet I got no reminder to stand). Other times, I'll have been standing and moving around for 1-2 hours, and then 5 minutes after I actually sit down the reminder to stand will pop up.
Oddly enough, the move/exercise portions are capturing that I'm moving around and walking when I'm standing...
If apple can't make this work properly, they at least need to allow us to manually "check off" hours where we did in fact, stand.
