Parallels Icons on Desktop

I am using Parallels particularly because CorelDraw is not available for Apple - I wish it were.

I have put the Corel Parallels Icon into Launchpad - works fine. But the icon remains on the desktop and I no longer want it there. If I trash that desktop icon I effectively trash the software. How do I no longer show the icon on the desktop but continue to have it in the launchpad?

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X Yosemite (10.10.3)
