Help with syncing itunes with my phone

I just pulled up ITunes today & it asked about updating. So I updated since then when I plug my plug my phone into my computer & pull up ITunes it will not put the iPhone icon on there so that I can sync it. I have rebooted the computer & the iPhone & it still want work. Please help!! Thanks
