May 21, 2015 4:51 PM in response to BDAquaby Raymon,BDAqua,
After successfully running Terminal to check the System Library Fonts, I see the same list of font files as yours, except mine show question marks in the place of the Asian characters in the last nine fonts.
Except for my unresolved "Bad Font Detected Alert in the font -, in the font file $C ...", my PPC Mac G4 with OS X Tiger, my desktop computer is humming with the update of my TenFourFox browser to version 31.7 and a successful DiskWarrior replacement of a slightly out of order Directory. Even my Safari 4.1.3 browser is now a good second to the TenFourFox browser.. Now I guess I should continue with addressing the Bad Font Alert... But I need more help . . .
Raymon

Use Pacifist & the OSX install Disc, or possibly the combo update.

Jun 18, 2015 9:01 PM in response to Raymonby Becky244,funny, I've developed the exact same ( ?? ) problem = Imac dome G4 - the $c bit - it seems any possible solution might well be worse than the problem ?

Jun 19, 2015 7:26 AM in response to Becky244by Raymon,I wasn't able to fix the Bad Font problem because frankly, my PPC MacG4 running Tiger I felt was not up to the task. Excuse my anthropomorphizing my old 2002 faithful Mac. Well, the monitor failed, and finding a replacement after a few tries was discouraging. It seemed that my Computer was too old for the present day 21.5 Inch monitors with HDMI, etc., as was pointed out to me by a computer repair shop.
So I took the advice to buy the $699 Mac Mini with a 2.6 GHz processor dual-core Intel core,8 GB of Ram, and I TB of storage! It has been about a week now, and except for growing pains on my part, all's well with this nearly top-of-the-line performance of this new and affordable computer. I couldn't be happier with it. Now with the help of Apple Care support (with the Protection Plan), I may try to transfer bookmarks, music, and photos from an external Seagate back-up drive I was wise enough to have. (Sorry, I have yet to update my Profile for this Support Community.)
The best of luck to you.

Jun 20, 2015 9:56 AM in response to Raymonby Becky244,Ha. I'm using the old G4 dome because my mimi mac 2.4 intell semi died and has been collecting dust in a fix it place for a week ...
question- IF a 'puter isn't working how are ya going to use the internet to reload the operating system ? apple ? I want a real disc , CD / dvd......
which may be the mini's problem now, I tried to load a new OS 10 system using the disc from the g4 dome which was 10.4 not 10.10 - I thought I'd just get it started then upgrade. long story short, it froze, who knows why.
looking at a new ''puter - the cheap ' chrome' only models for about $ 170. on Amazon. apparently halfway between a tv tuner and a real ' puter.?

Jun 20, 2015 11:46 AM in response to Becky244by BDAqua,Your Mini will not boot from any OS older than what it came with.
10.6.8 is needed to even download a newer OSX... 10.7, 10.8, 10.10, etc.
Have you tried booting the Mini holding CMD+r if it had 10.7 or more on it?

Jun 20, 2015 6:12 PM in response to BDAquaby Becky244,thanks, good info. maybe too late for my mini .... I didn't read that bit anywhere in the booklet, maybe I missed it. In any event I ordered a new computer or semi computer from Amazon that I gather only works with chrome, designed especially for internet. no Microsoft or Apple ! ?? typing this on the old dome G4.
