Is itunes specific to one device?

My Desktop computer crashed and I purchased videos through itunes on that desktop. Now, I am trying to find those videos on my Mac OS X 10.6.8 laptop and they are no where in my itunes? I am confused because thought my account could be used for both devices. Is there a setting I must change to get these videos on my laptop itunes?
