Why apple use second class materials in its cables? Chargers and connection cables do not last longer then six months?

How do you use your charger? My experience doesn’t match yours and we have a number of Mac notebooks in our family ranging in age from 6 years to 2 months and there’s been at least one Mac notebook in the household since 1991. In all that time I've had to replace one charger…the one a guest’s dog shredded. (Oddly, the Apple store gave me a replacement without charging me. I hardly consider a Great Dane puppy a battery factory defect)
I am afraid I must concur with DWB. So far in all of my years of use of Apple cable I have yet to have one fail on me.
Besides it has been my experience that Apple never uses second class materials in anything they make.
I have 4 chargers that are about 7 years, 4 years, 2 years and one 3 weeks old. All seem to be 100% functional. Should I be concerned about then to suddenly start failing now? Perhaps I should send then to a laboratory to be tested.
Ciao.
My experience mirrors dwb above. I have had one MBA charger cable failure - my dawg chewed off the connector - the local Apple store replaced the unit without question.
