I have read multiple articles about why not to upgrade to iOS 8.3 with the WIFI problems and all. But is that the scenario for older iOS devices or will it have similar issues for my iPhone 6 ?

I've had no problems with iOS 8.3 as have the vast majority of those updating to it.
Yes, you should upgrade. iOS 8.3 resolved a number of WiFi problems.
Yes. If you do a search here you will find multiple postings as to the danger of using any iOS any update to that iOS and the same with every OS X ever made and all associated updates.
There is nothing amiss with the 8.3 update, just a few people having issues with their devices.
