Sony HDR-XR200VE iMovie and zoom problems

Hi, I have a Sony HDR-XR200VE which has been little used but worked fine for past 5 years. After a recent trip I tried to connect to iMovies but it would not be picked up. System info shows the cam connected ok. I have not made any system changes recently. Mac runs 10.7.5 and iMovie 9.0.9. Also, noticed the zoom stopped working via toggle switch. Has anyone succesfully fixed these plz?
