ipads not responding-showing a black screen

i was charging my ipad last night (as battery had fully depleted) and the ipad showed the logo as usual then went to a black screen. i have tried restarting it many times and it doesn't work. right now its keeps turning on by itself then returning to a black screen, i have tried plugging it in to the computer and it still doesn't respond! please help as i really need this ipad today!
