Cannot add lyrics or artwork to songs 12.1.2

Hi,

After my latest ITunes upgrade (or two) I found I am unable to open ITunes, go into music, pick a song (usually mp3 - of my own - not bought through ITunes), hit "get info", and add artwork or lyrics on my own. I know others online with this problem, but can find no solution.

I was just able to do such editing a month ago; posts I have read on other sites are old and futile, suggesting mini lyric (I don't need scrolling lyrics - just descriptions of DJ setlists, talk show rundowns), etc.

Can I safely revert to an older ITunes? Or is there a way around my new problem? This is my first time joining this community so I'm sorry if this is beating a dead horse, but I've searched and googled high and low, and tried suggestions from unknown sites in this sea of advertising we call the internet (no offense, marketers). Now I hope here I can find and answer.

Thank you.
