MacBook Pro won't turn on, even when on charger.

My MacBook pro won't turn on even when connected to the charger. I've let it charge for a long time hoping that it was a dead battery. Still won't do anything. I recently updated the software and a day or so after I wasn't able to get it to turn on. Really hoping it's not dead!!!! How do I troubleshoot if it won't turn on?!
