Im using a Macbook Pro and am unable to download images from my iPhone to iPhoto. Error message says I have not got enough space on iPhoto. How do I either create more space or purchase more? Is there an option to save in another space?

What is the exact error message?
Does it say "not enough space on the destination volume"?
How much free storage in on your system drive? Where is your iPhoto Library stored? Is it in the default location, your Pictures folder?
And what are your settings in the iPhoto Preferences > Advanced?
Make sure, "Importing: Copy items into the iPhoto Library " has been enabled.
