After playing some region1 DVD's my computer tells me now it can't! Why? Can I reset?Thanks

I don't understand why my computer (MacBook Pro) will now not play region 1 DVD's. It played a few, I could change the region, it then said it was not set up to play region 1 and refuses to let me back in. Do I need to reset anything??
