30 pin to HDMI adapter A1422 problems

Hi, I have many new products and use the lightning to HDMI adapter with no problems (the poor picture seems to have been sorted out in the later iOS versions). I have just purchased a new 30 pin to HDMI adapter (A1422), it works well with an iPod touch 4th gen (running last version of iOS 6) but strange problems on iPhone 4s running iOS 8.3. if I reboot the phone I get a display on the screen, but when I try to use any app I get the tv icon flickering on the phone screen but no picture on screen. If I click on Airplay dock connector option appears and disappears. Clearly its an iOS issue. Will Apple fix this in a later iOS or should I return the adapter?
