Moving a newly added face

Alright, so I've created a face on a photo. Photos is not recognizing this particular face on its own, so I had to do it by hand.

Well, I can open the Info and then hit the + to create a new face. I can even name that face. But I cannot, for the life of me, figure out how to move the little circle so that it's actually over the face! Or resize the circle, like you used to be able to do in iPhotos with the rectangle. To fit the size of the face.

So, my question is - how do I move and resize a face circle after creating it? I've tried dragging it by clicking on just about all areas of the circle with my mouse, as well as right clicking and searching the menu and help topics. The help topic just says to drag it, but mine isn't moving. Help!

Don't think you can. The face recognition function has been improved and I guess we're not supposed to be able to modify it.

Bummer. I was tagging my dog and cat's faces. I don't see why I shouldn't be able to do that by hand if I choose to.

Also, here's what the Photos Help file states:

Faces: Click in the toolbar and type a name to identify a face. Click multiple times and drag the face identifier over different faces to identify multiple faces in a photo.

"drag the face identifier"... Sure sounds like we should be able to drag it, but it just won't.

Anyone else have any ideas? It's incredibly frustrating when a help file seems to insinuate I can do something, but I can't.

Well it works fine for me. Right click on photo and click the plus sign in the info window. The circle appears and you can drag it over the face you want. Click and drag the white dot to resize.

I was afraid of something like this. I must be buggy. I was 100% sure that's what that white dot was for, yet when I click and drag it, nothing happens.

I am not particularly knowledgeable about Photos, but I would try a couple of things. Use disc utility to repair permissions on your startup drive. Go into your user library and delete "com.apple.Photos.LSSharedFileList.plist" file. Restart photos and it will rebuild that file. If that doesn't help you can restore the old file from the trash or not bother. If neither of these help I would download the combo updater for 10.10.3 from Apple's website and install that on top of your existing installation. Not sure if this all will help but it is what I would try.

I Actually fixed it with a simple computer restart. Restarting just Photos didn't do it, but restarting the Mac did. I didnt even try restarting at first since I truly thought I was having a blonde moment and missing something.

I really appreciate your help with the other steps, even though I didn't end up needing them! Thanks!

Sorry for what ended up being a blonde moment after all and wasting anyone's time. I should've led this whole thing off with a restart, before even posting. Ah well, thank you all!

Good catch, Jim. We've (at least I've) been trying to adjust the existing face circles that appears when I just double click on a photo. The + button in the Info pane and resulting face circle does exactly what you report. Learn something new here every day. Thanks.
